Scope: This privacy policy applies only to the website https://askthisguy.com. It does not apply to the service or application provided by Ask This Guy (ATG)—those are governed by their own terms of use and privacy policies.

1. Data Controller

The website www.askthisguy.com is published and managed by ATGU, a simplified joint-stock company (SASU) with a share capital of €2,000, registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register under number 940 862 790 R.C.S. Paris, whose registered office is located at 200 rue de la Croix Nivert, 75015 Paris, France.

2. Personal Data Collected

We do not create any user accounts on this site and do not collect any data for advertising or profiling purposes.

Data processing on this site is limited to: audience measurement (section 3), the embedded conversational assistant (section 4), and data you voluntarily provide through demo booking or newsletter signup (section 5). Any data you choose to communicate to us voluntarily (for example, by email) is used solely in the context of your request.

3. Audience Measurement (Matomo)

The site uses Matomo, a self-hosted audience-measurement solution running on our own servers, configured to fall within the French data protection authority's (CNIL) consent exemption:

statistics are strictly limited to this single site and are not cross-referenced with any other processing;
your IP address is anonymized before any storage;
measurement runs without cookies: no tracker is placed on your device;
raw browsing data is retained for a maximum of 720 days;
the data is never shared with third parties.

4. The Conversational Assistant (Chat)

The site embeds our own conversational assistant. For this service, ATGU acts as the data controller. Processing happens at two tiers:

Always processed: the content of the messages you send and technical metadata (the page you are on, language, a session and conversation identifier, timestamps), in order to provide and improve the assistant. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating the assistant. You do not need to provide any personal information to use it. We do not store your IP address with your conversation.
Contact details, only if you provide them: the assistant may ask for your email address if you would like us to follow up. We collect it only with your agreement and use it solely to contact you about your request. Legal basis: your consent.

To generate responses, your messages are processed by third-party AI providers acting on our behalf (sub-processors): Mistral, OpenAI, Google (Gemini), Groq, Cerebras, Scaleway, Nebius and DeepInfra. Some may process data outside the European Union under appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses).

The input field is free-text: we encourage you not to share sensitive data (health, opinions, etc.). You may at any time request access to your conversations or their deletion (see section 7).

5. Demo Booking and Newsletter

Demo booking (Calendly): demo scheduling is handled by Calendly, acting as a sub-processor. The Calendly widget is loaded only when you click to show the calendar, so any Calendly cookies are set only if you engage with it.

Newsletter (Brevo): newsletter signup is handled by Brevo, acting as a sub-processor. The form is loaded only when you click to show it. The data you enter (email address) is used solely to send you the newsletter; you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.

6. Retention Period

Audience-measurement data (Matomo) is retained for a maximum of 720 days. Conversations with the assistant are retained for a maximum of 2 years, after which they are deleted. Other data you provide (email, form) is retained for the period strictly necessary to process your request, unless there is a contrary legal obligation.

7. Your Rights

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

8. Hosting and Data Transfers

The site and the Matomo audience-measurement solution are hosted by a service provider located in the European Union. Some data processed by the conversational assistant may be transferred outside the European Union by our AI providers (see section 4); such transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
